At Cairn Rescue, our animals are our first priority. We take
very seriously the responsibility of finding good, permanent homes
where the animals can spend the rest of their lives in a loving,
nurturing environment. We've rescued them once — we don't want to
have to rescue them again. Therefore, we go through
quite a process to ensure, as best as possible, that each dog will
be suitably matched to its new owners and its new home, and that
potential adopters are fully aware of the responsibilities involved
in owning one of the dogs. It can take some time and requires best
efforts but we think it's in the best interests of everyone
involved. We do insist on a homevisit before homing our
dogs.
In order to sustain rescue and to cover kennel fees and vet
bills as some of these dogs have been injured and require vet care
there is an adoption fee for our rescue dogs .
One of our adopters is making Christmas Cards and a third of
the money is being divided between cairn rescue and Clare Animal
Rescue you can see the cards at the following link if you would like
to help us in our aims to help cairns in need you can do so by
buying these cards.
http://petsireland.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=56323
All our dogs must be neutered.
Fostering a dog is also an option where a dog is fostered for
a period of time before a permanent home is identified. This is an
excellent solution for those who love animals but cannot home one on
a permanent basis. If you are interested in homing a
dog through Cairn Rescue contact mailto:marie@cadagio.com
alternatively visit our links page for other Irish animal rescue
sites, good homes always wanted.
A lot of time is spent on rescue dogs and at times we do not
have time to update the site with current dogs as saving them is the
main priority just because there is not a dog on the site listed
looking for a home does not necessarily mean we do not have a rescue
dog at the present time.
We also work with other rescues to help find homes for cairns
that they take in we will forward people to rescues that have cairns
and any donation or adoption fee is at the discretion of the
rescue.
Here are some of the lucky ones who made there way to rescue
and have been homed and some still awaiting homes. Please
contact us if you wish to help any of the dogs.

Rosie just loves life and thinks getting her belly rubbed
is heaven. She was once someones pet as she was well fed (a
little too wel fed) and neutered she can not understand why her
owner never came looking for her in the pound. She is around
five years old great with other dogs. She has been to the
groomers to get a make over and they thought she was a wonderful
gentle little dog. She would like a home without young
children as she is not used to them

Poor Tootsie does no know why she was no longer wanted she
is a sweet natured quiet girl whose owner no longer wanted her so
surrendered her to a pound. She got the name Tootsie as she is
understhot. She has also been to the groomers and they found her to
be a gentle loving little dog. Herself and Rosie have become
good friends in kennels and share their food and bed without a
difficulty.
She is currently in kennels but would like a home of her
own. She would like a home without young children as she is
not used to them |

These two boys have not got a clue as to what is happening
to them. It looks like they have had a good groom and then
were brought to a pound and surrendered. At a year old life should
only be begining for them instead they were urgently waiting on a
saviour. Thankfully cairn rescue was contacted and we are
getting them into kennels until they get a more deserving
home. Thanks to a rescue group in Cork who took
these two boys out of the pound they have gone to their forever
home.

Poor daisy was once someones much loved pet. We are not
sure if she was stolen and when it was discovered she was spayed she
was dumped over someones fence into their garden.
Unfortunately the ladies dogs were not impressed so she is currently
in the vets but needs to be in a loving home
environment |
|
Daisy ended her days in rescue she had a heart condition and
the vet felt it was only fair to give let her go peacefully.
Her owner was found and she had been stolen from a different county
and was over 15 years old |

Poor laeth 1-2 year old was found straying and ended up in

Jake 2- 3 year old is currently in foster care he was
found wandering in traffic on a main road and thanks to a good
samaritan who stopped to catch him he is still alive. Jake now
Trooper was covered in what looked like cement so he needed a short
back and sides to remove the mats. |

Woody 2- 3 year old is a very affectionate, loving dog. He
is house trained, is good with the child in the foster home
who is around 6 years old. Woody was found as a stray and had
been attacked by a dog and had an abscess on his neck which required
veterinary treatment. Woody is a very mannerly little man (and
he is little). He is not sure of other dogs which is
understandable so would prefer to be the only dog. He is one
stunning boy very gentle and quiet he just so wants a home to call
his own. |

Marvin - 3 year old is a very affectionate, loving dog. He
is house trained, is good with kids, other dogs, and tolerates cats.
He loves to play and go for walks, but is just as happy to lie in
the kitchen. Marvin weighs about 14 lbs, and would love to be
adopted by a loving, attentive home where he won't have to spend
long periods of time alone.

Fitz 1-1/2 years old came to cairn rescue due to the
family being rehoused. Boy did this poor boy come in a sorry
state. He went to foster care where it was discovered he had
fleas but that was not the only thing he had never been groomed and
had a severe ear infection that sadly had been left untreated and he
was now nearly deaf. The fosterers put a lot of work into Fitz
to convince him life was not all bad and they fell madly in love and
he is now permanently living with them. |

Max what a stunner I could not believe my eyes when I saw this
beautiful boy in a rescue in Limerick and what was more surprising
is he had been there awhile. he had been rehomed and was given
back. I had someone on my books looking for a rescue cairn and
they went and met max and took him to his new forever

Duncan what a lucky little boy he was found straying by
really nice people who took him in and gave him a place of
safety. Being a typical cairn he just wandered in and said
hi. They tried everywhere to find his owner sadly their dogs
would not allow Duncan in the house so they contacted us to try and
rehome him as the weather was cold and they felt it unfair for him
to live outdoors when he cried to come in. Duncan is now a
much adored family pet |

Kitty was the first cruelty case we had to
deal with. She was found in appaling condition. Matted
and with nails grown into her paws she was so badly matted that the
pound could not sex her and she could not stand and found it
difficult to go to the toiled.
Kitty went into foster care was clipped by the vet and has
now found a loving home |

Dub is only about three years old and this is the
second time he has been in rescue. As a puppy dub was in
Battersea's dogs home. Unfortunately his family circumstances has
changed and he is once again in rescue. He is a wonderful cairn who
is good with children and has no bad habits. He is a typical
cairn in that an open door means lets go exploring.

leave him so she took him home and started looking for a forever
home for him. She could not find the right home for Truffles
so contacted us for our help. Truffles is one supper little dog and
